The City of Thompson seeks a full-time Deputy Chief-Fire.
Reporting to the Fire chief, the Deputy Chief-Fire will directly supervise all Fire/Rescue operations and manage the department’s fire prevention and public education program. This position administers all relevant training for the department while focusing on long term and short term strategic and operational goals. The Deputy Chief-Fire performs all duties collaboratively and interchangeably with the Fire Chief.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in the leading, teaching, mentoring and supervision of staff. In addition, the candidate will have at minimum, Fire Officer Level 1 (NFPA 1021), Firefighter Level 2 (NFPA 1001), Fire Investigation (NFPA 1033), Inspection Level 1 (NFPA 1031), Emergency Services Instructor Level 1 (NFPA 1041), and preferred Fire Life Safety Educator (NFPA 1035), and possess a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Senior Officer. The candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and strong leadership skills, with experience managing in a unionized environment. In addition, the candidate must be physically fit, possess a Class 4A driver’s license, a clear criminal records check and must be proficient in computers, including Microsoft and Fire Data Management.
